Sandy. I really have to disagree. I have NEVER seen an 85/86 RS with black bezels. And I mean I have looked.

Check out the last three cars on this page 84/85/86...very close to 100% stock cars:
http://www.ascmclarencoupe.com/OtherCar ... /index.htm

I would not say this unless I really really looked.

All 1985's had chrome P/W and P/D/L (if so equipped.
All 1986 GS had the above.
All 1986 RS were supposed to get BLACK. I assume some slipped thru.
Full Packaged 1986 Coupe asc/McLarens were supposed to get black
It says this in the salesmans price, data and info booklet.

My 86 has black Pwr. Door Locks with black switchs and black "frame"
My Pwr, Window switches likewise as well the frames around the switch.

Your going to find only a few 86 5.0 capri's got black if any.

I don't even recall the last 86 I saw with black ones.
I have a buddy that has had a couple of 1 owners, my first one, mine now..etc etc.

Something isn't right there Sandy.

My '86 vert has black/black. One of the screws had broken thru the bezel so I went and got one from Henry. He's only 22 miles away. It was a chrome bezel that had been painted black. There were a couple scratches on it. Unfortunately, I dropped it behind our freezer and won't be able to put it on till we defrost the freezer.

I wonder, were all the black ones painted black by ASC? I'm not going to scratch one to see and none of mine are scratched!

According to the 1986 Fact book, there was no change between the interior accents of the GS and the 5.0L.

I simply have not seen any 86 RS/5.0L cars with black bezels.

As to the ascMcLaren cars, I was not talking about them. Those are black as far as I know and we have seen many cars with mismatched bezels to know it was often goofed up.

Yes, Mike - I of course have those pages from the Data book. The One I refered to is the small salesman's data book with prices. Similiar to the one that you got for 1979 and gave to me. Recall ? In that thing it says what I beleive to be correct.

Think of this: The GS I think had chrome trim on the roof gutter, likewise in the grille edges, and other places, while the RS did not. There was moere chrome "accents" on the lower priced model, than the RS (5.0) models. So, it would make sence that the McLaren coupes, which were based upon the RS (5.0) would be black switchs & frames, while the GS would have chrome accents.

Now, the 'VERTS were based upon the GS WITH the 5.0 engine. So, it would be correct for them to have the chrome switchs & Frames.

On another topic, I finally got around to checking that 86 Capri up 4-sale on e-bay, the one that the guy's brother left uncovered in the back yard.
Yes, it's a EuroCoupe. Looks like somebody added the stripes and other things, to make it look like the others, but it is listed on the ascMcLaren in-house list, as a Euro Coupe - of the 47 made, it is # 15.

MIKE, please put this info in a good & proper place on the site.
I am late & have to go out - like 10 minutes ago !!!

1986 asc McLaren EURO-COUPE COLOR BREAKOUT

21 in Raven Black with thin Orange tape stripe in side moulding
14 in Oxford White with thin Orange tape stripe in side moulding
12 in Smoke Grey Metallic with thin Orange tape stripe in side moulding.
Total of 47 Euro-Coupes.
They were "Late" build 1986s. The 1st unit was shipped on May 12th '86 snd the final unit was shipped on August 25th '86.
They were made together with Full Packaged units, rather than as thought initially having ben made at the end of the full-packaged units.

This car sold with the Buy It Now option today about 4pm EST. Did someone here buy it?

The seller made out well getting $2,250 for it when he had lowered the price down to $1,700 here.

I hope it was bought to be saved as the EuroCoupe it is.

That Eurocoupe info is already here:
http://www.ascmclaren.org/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=26

Except the numbers aren't exactly the same. You have it off by one...dunno which is right or wrong.

As to the chrome door bezels, I read the 86 price book that you sent me and I didn't see any mention of it. Going back to look again...

I had to count the EuroCoupes manually on ascMcLaren's listing and they were spread out. I must have made an error. I double checked right now and I fixed the original post as well as yesterdays post.

21 Black
14 Oxford White
12 Smoke Grey Metallic
47 Total

When they originallly left ascMcLaren they all had that thin Popsicle Orange tape stripe in the recessed groove in the moulding. All had Grey Cloth interior. Alpine & Whistler were OPTIONS on them, as was Automatic Tranny, Sun Roof & T-Tops, as well as Pwr. Door Locks and Cruse Control.
They came with the Ford Am Fm Stereo/cassette.
Not sure which speakers they got.
They came out about the same timeframe as the "SS" Capri McLaren 2-Seat 'Verts WITH the 6 Cyl. Engine. Around the middle of May 1986, and deliveries of them continued thru September 1986.
The 6 Cyl. Capri 'Verts were all either Paris Blue -OR- Sterling Silver. The Paris Blues had blue interior & the Dark Blue roof. The Sterling Silvers had the blue interior and the Dk. Blue top.
There were a couple made in WHITE, with WHITE Wheels (siiliar to U-Man's car. They had blue interiors & the Dk. Blue top.
The Silver cars had non painted wheels. They used the regular 1986 wheel in the aluminum silver, non painted.
