Question on License plate mounting

Post by linker »

Can someone tell us how to mount a license plate on the front of our 88 McLaren convertible. When we got it, it had a plate screwed in to the front bumper where they drilled holes for it. It was really floppy and just didn't seem right so we took it off. Is there a front license plate mounting kit or something? If you look at the pictures on this site for 88 McLaren you can find a picture of it posted by Linker. The car is red.

My '89 has a black plastic bracket from Ford that mounts to the bumper.

Hi, nice looking ASC!

Sorry to hear you have to put a license plate on the front of your car. I too was forced to put one on the front of mine. Must be nice to live in one of the many states that do not require this. I would love to lead the charge to eliminate this. For the first few years I refused to put one on the front of mine and was stopped a few times[edit]. Just got a warnings. But I knew sooner or later it would cost me, so I gave in.

Its really ridiculous, when neighboring states do not require front plates. And there argument for them is laughable. PLUS, you'd think it would save the state money in not having to produce 2 plates for every car!!!!!!

Sorry, this is something that has always gotten under my skin.....

Kansas tried the front plate, but decided it was not worth it and went back to the one plate.

Cool. So, I'll put Kansas down for having common sense.

Think about Florida. No front plates. No state income tax. My property tax on a 3/2/2 on 2.5 acres is $1042.00 a year. No sales tax on groceries, medicine etc. Fruit by the bushel. Go ask at almost any home with a fruit tree and they'll give you all you want to pick!

But this year has been C O L D !!!! Wore my Corvette jacket many times this year. Maybe 4 times in the past 6 years before this year. And have had a sweatshirt on almost every day.

I know, I know. Sympathy is in the dictionary between sh*t ands syphillis.

Chris to be honest I never really noticed the front plates on cars at shows. IF the car is Cool ,neat ,sharp or just rare. Plus I kinda like the custom plates on the front when walking thru a show.
yes sir, if it were me i'd leave the plate off. if it's not the original paint i'd have the holes filled and re-shot.

Interesting. Where does Florida get its tax revenue? In Texas, there is no state income tax, but property taxes are either the highest or among the highest in the country (mine were around $12k last year). Sales tax is between 8-9%.

OUCH! $12k! why would anyone move to texas. the tax on my new house is like $3K a year and its right next to a lake.

coming from Michigan with no front plate i cant stand them! my fiancee who is from ohio walked between her car and another cutting open her leg on her front plate. 55 stitches later and a big scar she is ok. not a fan of the front plate. once she was better she had lots of fun with a hammer and her plate.

Florida Tax revenue: Tourist tax on the millions of hotel/motel rooms. Sales tax is 6% or 7% (maximum), depending on the county you live in.

Our real estate values have plummeted but have had a nice effect for us. Our taxes were over $1400.00 when the sales value of our home was about $300,000.00. Now they are telling me it's only worth $102,300.00 and my taxes are $1042.00. The bonus? We have a state law that says the value of your property can only increase by 3% per year, for taxing purposes. I love it, but have some fears. We've had a Republican governor, Senate and Congress for 11 years now and they've spent every dime we had in any emergency funds, have raided every budget item they can and wish like hell they could get a state income tax. But that would require a 66% yes vote from the voters to change our state constitution. That'll likely NEVER happen. We also MUST have a balanced budget, by constitution. We can't run a deficit like the Feds.

Glad I'm not in charge!!
