Wondering if '86 # 043 car is registered here
Hi,
I was wondering if Mclaren Capri # 043 was registered here?
I test drove this car when new in '86 and I fell in love with it but being only 17 I couldn't afford it. It came back up for sale again a couple years later at the same dealer ship. I test drove it again and I applied for it, but I couldn't swing it.
I was just curious as to what ever happened to the car and it's where abouts I just happened upon this place today thinking about it.
If memory serves me it was a dark charcoal, black jade green, or black.
The car was in Binghamton NY.
I have been away from Mustangs and Fords in general for over 20 years and I just got back into them a few years ago and we now own a '99 Mustang GT and a '65 coupe that we are restoring.
Thanks,
Lynn

I have # 43!
Hello! Just wanted to let you know # 43 is sitting safe and sound in my driveway. It needs restoring and I'm slowly working on it. The car is black. I would send you pics but it's kinda embarrassing to look at right now. I bought it last fall from a guy who said his cousin or uncle owned it from Binghampton. I live in upstate N.Y. Well, just thought you should know!
I feel the same about 86-0001. It is equipped like a Spring Special and has the Sport Decor Pkg, but came out of asc in Nov of 85 - a good 6+ months before either of those pkgs were supposed to be available for 86; and it has a V8 to boot.

While I hate to admit it publicly, I didn't realize until now that I could do it myself. For some reason I had never looked in the 'database' section in all the years I've been on the board.
I added my black vert too.

OH MAN!!
It has been a while since I been on the board to check it out.
I would love to see pics of the car no matter what shape it is in, so yes, please post them.
I drove that car when it was new on the lot and I fell in love with it big time. I just wish I could have afforded her back then.
Thanks for posting and I'm looking forward to see pics if you can.

Re: mcclaren#43
Awesome question ProTouring asked of #43 (formerly owned by Richard Petty perhaps?)... but of even greater significance to many who might not have given it consideration otherwise: "McClaren" (sic) won't fit on a personalized license plate in most states... but turns out "McLaren" sure does.ProTouringASC wrote:Cool.... but why are there 2 of the letter "C" in your screen name?

I was amazed at that myself, It was looking searching for a needle in a hay stack.scoutdrivinrebel wrote:Very cool that the search was posted and the current owner is here. This is a small community site, but there are good people here.
I hope to see some pics soon, I'd love to see her again.
No matter what condition she is in.

The car came out of the small city of Binghamton, NY. I truly doubt there is anything significant to #43.RareFox wrote:Awesome question ProTouring asked of #43 (formerly owned by Richard Petty perhaps?)... but of even greater significance to many who might not have given it consideration otherwiseProTouringASC wrote:Cool.... but why are there 2 of the letter "C" in your screen name?
