FS: 1985 ASC Mclaren Vert #246

Post by capriman86 »

Well I coming to realize I will probably be one of "those guys" that lets a car that has a chance at life sit and rot away. I really have my hands full with getting my 86 Capri back together, and continuing to work on our 88GT. Adding the expense of a 3rd car that needs restoration while supporting 4 kids probably isn't the best thing for me right now. Having the space to do so presents another problem as well. I really would need to have an extra garage back to tear into it and I don't.

So...I think the wise decision at this time would be to pass it along. I am hoping whoever buys this car does continue to restore it. I really think it has a chance at life. It has its share of scaling rust and does need floor work but there is still a lot of solid metal on this car.

Car was sitting for at least 4 year prior to me picking it up. It fired right up the day I went to look at it and it hadn't started in years.

This is basically what I know. The car starts, runs, doesn't smoke and sounds "sound". The brake light is on, I am not sure why, I don't know if its the ebrake or an actually brake issue. I do know the rear line over the axle is weeping.

I have driven this car down the road and back and it appears to shift normal and run smooth.

It has 4 Goodyear tires on it that appear to have been just put on the car prior to parking it. I still see stubble's and don't see any weather checking.

There is 102k on the OD and I do have the title for the car.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. I will tell you all that I know.

Expectations should be that you are going into this car with work ahead of you to make it 100% road worthy. I think it has the potential to be a nice driver or restomod car. I would NOT recommend driving this car home. I would bring a trailer to be safe.

Price is $999.99 obo

You can find a bunch of current photo's at the link here below, these were taken today: Photos Here
I will add some photo's of the undercarriage that I have tomorrow.

This is how I found it:

Local foureyed guy bought it.
Glad to see it will get fixed up.

I just don't have the time nor extra cash right now.
2 toy cars is more then enough in this family.
Unless a cool black magic showed up. Then I would be back to square one. LOL

Very true I should have worded that differently.

This is the lovely wife's car, not "his". My bad

Yeah, it'll be fun getting everybody together. Even if I'll get my doors blown off by... everybody.

Yeah I ended up cleaning up as much as I could this past Wednesday when we hit 92 degrees for the first time this year. I almost dehydrated...LOLOL

But it definitely is much more presentable and has lots of potential. Glad I will get to see it progress vs. sit until I had time/money.
