Tons of ASC Information, etc.

Post by asc300zxspyder »

I was doing an online search for information on my car and came across your site.....

I own the 300zx Spyder (Retractable Hardtop) ASC did for the 1992 Geneva Auto Show. Thought you might be interested and feel free to add anything I've missed. Amazing company, as an auto enthusiast, Im amazed at how much I didn't know about them.

That setup looks a lot like the what asc did on the Mistubishi 3000GT Spyder. Neat cars!

ASC 300zx Spyder

Post by asc300zxspyder »

This 300zx actually debuted the ASC top system that was used in the 1995+ 3000gt Spyder at the 1992 Geneva Auto Show.

The system was also used in the 1998+ Mercedes SLK and 2001+ Peugeot 206cc among others.

Yes, and ASC had a hand in many afterbuild conversions. They got along so well with the automobile manufacturers that the original manufacturers would build to ASCs needs/desires, by omitting parts that ASC was going to throw away in the conversions. Many times cars arriving via rail were less than 80-percent done! They began back in the 1970s, installing power sun roofs, first for Chrysler and soon after for many other brands.
They specialize in what is called "Short-Runs" ~ 1 to 2 thousand limited editions.

Pretty sure Ford was the first US customer--they donated a '67 Cougar with a hand-crank ASC sunroof to the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn. Even has an ASC front plate and a plaque describing the relationship.

Yes, but first mass available as an option, on a car dealer'a order form was the 1970 Chrysler 300, followed by the 1970 Cadillac Eldo and then the flood gates opened ....the rest was history....
