Need Wheel Center Cap

Post by svo413 »

Looking for a front loading center cap for the 84-86 ASC Wheel. This would be the front loading type without the fingers. 50. SC would be in silver on a black cap. Replacement stickers would be nice too.

Hank will have the cap. You can reach him at info@ascmclaren.com If you need the stickers, I get them made by Tom Clark (sinisbuilt on Instagram where he best communicates). They’re 1 7/8” BTW. I have the artwork, but so does Tom.

Parts

Post by svo413 »

I posted here as Hank has once again burned me. I ordered the front loading center cap for an 85 from him but received the wrong one. This is like the 5th time I have been burned by him with wrong parts. He ships what he has, not what the car came with. He never bothers to confirm that he ships something else.

This time he sent the rear loading cap which was not used on the 85. I believe these are the Campagnolo Wheels.

Ordered a Tan door pull, got a gray one.
Ordered door panel light to get a white lens, got one with a clear lens.
Ordered an 85 center cap, got an 87-89 rear loading cap.
Ordered an NOS top. windows fell out in 6 months.

Now he has Blue Oval selling his same wrong parts. Got burned by him several times as well. They seem to be out just to sell any part. Not the right part.

That's disappointing! I had one of each--with blue and orange stickers, I returned to him from another owner.

If you have an original, Tom Clark can 3D print them. They're not cheap--but he can do it.

My '85 has the front-load style. That I can confirm.

Still looking

Post by svo413 »

I had a few leads on center caps and just the decal. Nothing has come thru. It seems the 84-86 front loading caps are extremely hard to find. I may have to start looking at buying used wheels.

I searched Amazon and found some center cap possibilities. Set for $6 was my first try. They came in a couple days and looked pretty good. The Diameter was just a bit too big at 2.12". I needed some type of lathe set up to turn it down. I used a door striker bolt and glued it cap to it. I put this in my drill to spin it and used some 100 grit sand paper to turn it down. It worked and popped into place.

Now I see a couple more options on Amazon. It looks like 2009-2012 Mazda 3 5 6 CX7 RX8 Hub Center Caps are 2.01". That may be a better option.

Next would be some decals.
