I was told, and I know others will question this, and I have no proof, BUT THAT they all employed Mustang CONVERTIBLE carpeting. This would be the Capris (as you have) ass well as the Mustangs. (The colrs are the same for both brands).

Yeah, I think it has been mentioned that the front carpet would be vert carpet. It would make sense and all they would need to do is to cut a bit out for the center support and console. The rest should fit correctly.
Didn't Hank have roles of stuff for the back area available?
If you go with something like ACC carpet, you can also order carpet by the yard which should match perfectly.

That is a blurry shot taken from above a car.
I do not know if anything was done underneath.

The picture Mike showed you is how the 84 85 & 86 Capri Convertibles were. Just for the record, the 87 88 89 & 90 Mustang versions did not have this. They add considerable under body bracing underneath. My opinion is that the cars have considerable cowl shake on bumpy roads but are fine on smooth roads. Manhole covers do not "upset" them too much, but rough and/or potholes do. However, more upsetting to me is the passenger side door. My own two, as well as every other one I've been in, the passenger side door "knocks" at the latch. I've never had the latch reposistioned nor "fooled with" for fear it would get even worse. From the exterior, the alignment on both of mine appears to be flawless, yet knock knock knock continutes. IF you take a piece of tape, not thick, like a band-aid & wrap it around the striker , she'll stop knocking for a while, until the lock chews it up. Then it's a bear to peel off the tape & put on new. Since Idon't use them very much (actually at all) the few times I take one of them out, I just make the stereo a little louder and enjoy the ride.

Pete,
I got the carpeting for my '85 vert from ACC. I got mustang convertible carpeting (molded) and it fit excellent. You will need to trim the carpet a little bit to fit our ASC cars though. For example, I cut the carpet down the middle and trimmed the center portion of the carpet so it fit nicely under the center console (which I didn't completely remove - I gently tucked it underneath). In the rear, you will need to trim the carpeting a bit to fit it underneath the rear portion of the console. Otherwise installation of the molded carpeting is a piece of cake.

thanks 85vert. So you didn't need to replace the package tray area in the rear?
Sandy, I assumed the 87-90 cars started with a convertible, is that true or untrue? I think I may add subframe connectors to the 86 when I start doing things. I added them to my 82 Gt and it made a big difference; noticeable. And, that is a hatch car.

Oh, Sorry, I misunderstood. No, the 1987-1990s started with a Mustang LX V-8 2-Door Notchback Sedan, in black with either a Regatta Blue, Scarlet, Sand Beige or Titanium Grey interior (1987-1988-1989), -OR-
a Scarlet, Crystal Blue, Opal Grey -OR- Black interior for 1990. However, there were certtain mods performed on them AT FoMoCo under the D32ascMcLaren build code that they were built under. So that line worker would know WHAT they were, the wore paper "cones" on their roofs that looked like highway cones (the orange ones).... Printed ON these paper cones it said

Yes, I have 1 photograph, but no scanner. It looks exactly like an orange road cone, as the highway department uses, BUT it's WHITE in color. It's the same height and width of the road department ones. The lettering is vertical, as I did above and goes down the cone. It was placed on the roof of the 2-door sedan Mustang. They were also built in consecutive VINS All units with either the Regatta Blue of Crystal Blue ('90) had exterior of Oxford White. The remainder cars were all Raven Black exteriors. This because the computer network would not accept a car painted black to have blue interior !! So, to circumvent that, cars ordered with blue interior, were automatically painted white. All 1989 & 1990s were equipped identically, with the exception of the type of transmission.
