To those who know this, forgive the broken record syndrome.
A young female, who was pretty much in charge of record keeping at ascMcLaren in the 1984/1985 timeframe, became enraged at whomever there and quit. She also shredded all documents of 1984 & 1985 VINS. Thjerefore, that is why I have NO 1984 nor 1985 VINS. I have all 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989 & 1990. NOBODY has 1984 nor 1985.
We only have production totals !

As Sandy has said before, the VIN does not indicate when the car was converted. Unless the GP4s were numbered by asc, you will probably never know exactly when your car was converted. David, read this carefully:-
Lets take (only by means of example) the 1987 build of 479 identical 1987 Mustang LX V-8 2-Door Sedans. They are identical in equipment. All ordered with red, beige or grey interiors are BLACK cars. Units ordered with blue interior are WHITE cars, because the computer rejected a black car with blue interior ~ ~ so, the computer was set to paint the car white WHEN ordered with blue interior. (Exception: In 1988 they used "Light Grey" (non metallic) exterior paint color on the Coupes ordered with the BLUE interior. Okay ?)
Now, all 479 are made in sequence (VIN) as a group. They are then sent by RAIL to ascMcLaren, at Autry Ave, in Livonia, Mi. They are unloaded, and parked in a parking lot. (Mental image here.... A TARGET or K-MART parking lot).
As ascMcLaren recieves order or orderS, a company PORTER is instructed to venture out into the yard and find the following:-
A unit with_______ (fill in the blank) grey or beige or red ~
Interior, and the transmission called for, either 5-speed stick OR automatic. So, he's out there looking first for a car with either beige or grey of red interior (whichever he was told to find) and THEN to look inside for the correct tranny, as called for.
Should the call be for a car with BLUE interior, his job is much easier, for he only has to check WHITE cars, and then find 1 with the required tranny!
See? The keys were in all the cars, so now he may have to move 4, 8 or 12 cars to get to the needed unit. Okay?
He could give a rat's rump about taking them in VIN order from Ford.
Now, that said.... NEXT >> Inside the building they could do perhaps 10 to 12 cars at a time, some would finish first ahead of others that came in before them, others would be held over for flaws, still others, would speed thru the process. Therefore, in most cases, (I'll explain later) the Dash plaques are only there for the WOW ! factor, as in WOW, look, it's number 19 !! Whoop te do!

The worker opened all the boxs of dash plaques, dumped them in a wheelbarrow at the exit door, reached in & took one & stuck it on in the correct spot, on the 1988s !!
1986 COUPES are in fact also numbered 100% correctly !!
I do not believe that EuroCoupe recieved a dash plaque number.....Yes ?
Jayson has the listing of all of the VINs of EuroCoupes he has found.

BUT STILL MAKES ME WONDER WHY THE FINAL 4 LISTED ON THE GPIV SITE VIN'S WERE SO CLOSE WHO KNOWS? I DO KNOW WHEN I ORDER VEHICLES AT WORK AND PUT IN AN ORDER FOR 4 OR 5 LETS SAY F-150'S AND ORDER THEM SIMILAR WHEN THEY COME IN VIN'S ARE ALMOST IF NOT ALWAYS CONSECUTIVE MAYBE THAT IS IT?

there was some talk awhile back about the silver cars coming with white windshield decal. the answer seems to be no. the silver cars didnt come with the window decal. if you look at your page, there is at photo of your ride without it that was taken by thee previous owner before his repaint/new decals. this is also coming from graphik concepts & another silver car owner (1st owner)oh yea, your cars previous owner also added some mods to the car. i know he put on a saleen suspension among other things.

on the car that was junked crushed. someone contacted me about it about 4 years ago. they mentioned it was in restorable shape with the engine & trans/rear end but the owner of the yard wouldnt dig it out of the yard. would have had to move too many cars. but the person was kind of enough to get some specific info off the car for me on a 2nd vist with some photos. the owner before the junk yard was not aware it was there or scraped. it was stolen & ended up there. someone contacted me recently about one in the cinci area back in the day. he mentioned the motor was built to the hilt when he got it. but the thing was the engine looked completly stock. it wasnt until they cracked it open a few years later that they found some"definatley not factory "mods. he also mentioned some cheesy paint job and crappy block lettering. i sent him some pics & he confirmed it was the same car. he also mentioned it had to be fixed a little when he got it & put on the asc airdam(but kept the factory bumper).

I saw the above comments, and wanted to try to clarify the issue... Jack Roush, yes the same guy who now races NASCAR, started out as a team owner in Trans-Am racing. He owned a multiple car team that competed in that series from about 1982 until the mid 1990s, when he completely withdrew from road racing to dedicate all his efforts to NASCAR. His team was heavily financed by Ford for a few years, 84-86 being the most. It was his 85 Mercury Motorsports race cars (my AVTAR) that our Pace Cars were designed to look like. I saw many of these races in person, back then, and even met Jack at one race in 1984, so I guess you could say I have first hand experience. 85GPIV Is your GPIV the one in primer on the GPIV site? I remember that one on ebay several years ago did you buy it there or never sold it curious
