The cable used for the gas door release can be found on the passenger side in the trunk under the carpeting or by the passenger tail-light as well as there is a push button release for the gas door in the glove box just below the push button release for the trunk deck lid.
This is how mine is. The motor does move the tonneau up then right back down. The switch must be shorted to ground. The cable to the motor in the trunk was unplugged.

The passenger side wasn't caught under the latch as stated, so that is ok now.

The rear hook doesn't lock in, I think there is an adjustment screw of some sort that the head is broke off, so its not moving far enough to catch it.

Will look at that later so I can get it to seal down.

Its pretty scary underneath, but I'm not giving up. I am going to make this car survive some how some way.

This pic is very large, so if you have a slow connection use caution.

Not scary at all. Actually it looks like it is fairly solid.

Just the suspension and drive train need a good blasting and painting.

Well it needs complete floors at a minimum.
But a good blasting will help determine whats what.

Here is a link to lots more pics.

Yeah, but I see lots of good metal and most of the rot is only at the floor pans.

Don't get me wrong, it needs a bunch but it's not too far gone yet.

Those brake lines will all need replacing, etc, etc. Its a big project but the body is the main thing and those frame rails look good from what I can see. That's huge.

Oh yes...I bought it Monday night for $800

I just didn't have the heart to leave it there, the next place could have gone to was the junkyard. I would like to give it a chance to live on some way.

I can't afford to do a rotisserie resto, but I am going to give her the love I can and make her a respectable driver.

So...I will be posting when I get more done, and miserable spitting sand and rust out of my teeth form the sand blaster.

Most Definitely! Would love to stop my and see the toys too!

Ok....Take a look at this, I am assuming I am missing the head of a screw that engages the hook to latch the rear canvas???

Also in the last pic, that pop release on the tonneau latch, what actuates that?
Is it the rocker switch on the drive rside, behind the seat? I can only open the tonneau by the cable pull. If I connect the motor in the trunk and latch the tonneau, it goes up, then down and stops.

And last question, where white verts white from ASC? or where they black? I see lots of black in places which is odd.

This screw is an adjustment. This lever actuate the other spring loaded lever that is in the chrome top piece where the top hook goes in. When you engage the tonneau cover in the latch it remain partly open. The hook of the top is also not completely down in the hole. When you activate the switch the motor pull the tonneau down and at the same time the movement of the lever pull down the top hook inside the hole with the other lever. This bolt is to adjust the relation between the 2 levers.
The switch behind the seat should unlatch the tonneau and also actuate the pull motor.

Most Definitely! Would love to stop my and see the toys too!

The toys are nearby. I am renting a wonderful place. 4 miles from home.
All brick warehouse, concrete walls & floors, lights, heated, air conditioned, hard wired to police & fire, audable exterior intrusion alarm, paved driveway (some pot-holes  ) No windows in the place, electric garage door, outdoor room for the car you arrive in.
THE RULES:
No Booze & No Beer
No Hangin' out for a long time
No mechanical work to be done
No smoking
Turn off what you turn on
Close what you open
Double check the place B-4 U leave.

I have 4 cars in there now. It holds 14

It is also why my finances are pretty tight, now.
My entire Social Security Check is going there  !
