Hi Guys
I'm looking at buying a car w/out being there in person. I went and saw it but at the time the seller was not willing to get to my price. Now he is and I want to just have it shipped home.
How do you transfer the funds and title? Anyone have some thoughts on the best way to do it?
Thanks
Dave

I would use a lawyer in his town. Have the lawyer draw up the paperwork, you send by registered mail a bank check to the lawyer. The seller gives the title to the lawyer and seller ships car. When you recieve car, seller gets the check from the lawyer.

My partner and I just did this very thing with a dealer in Pennsylvania Thursday.

What he did was go to the bank to wire the funds. Fortunately, the dealer uses the same bank as our business account. Anyway, our bank contacted the dealer's branch AND the dealer. His branch faxed our bank a signed bill of sale and copy of the title, along with a copy of his dealer license number.

Lengthy process, but very painless.

Some of the transport companies will do all that for you. Look on ebay for the name of one, and you will see exactly what I mean. They deliver the check when they pick the car up. If the car dosen't match the photos, they won't except the car.

Also since you are trying to correct yourself, "should of been" should be "should HAVE been".
