Save from the crusher alert...

Post by CHAZ »

Looks like it has (or used to have) recaros, h&t covers and ground effects too ....
Must have been beautiful when new.
I'd love to save it, I just don't think I can get another one at this point.
I just don't want to see it get crushed. :unhappy

That's a damn shame!
Wish I lived closer to it/had more garage space.

On the bright side: Every time one goes to the crusher, it makes ours even more rare. Too bad the general public doesn't know they're out there! Wonder how many '86 Roadsters are left?

451 miloes from here. Too far to rescue it. For spare parts it might not be too bad. At say, $350.00.

Chaz: Doesn't look like it had any of the decor package. No ground effects, whaich would mean no HL/TL covers. Can't tell about the Recaros from these few pics. For $20,000.00 you could have a nice $10,000.00 (or less) car. Those chrome wheel well moldings have to go!

I hope it went to someone who'll save it. It can't be worse than the 2 that I saved... Ken, If you blow up the pics,it looks like it has a drivers' side skirt and the pass side tail cover & the headrests are def. recaro. Hopefully a member picked it up and not the Atlanta mustang chop shop that got a hold of my old GLX 5.0 vert... If they did it will be showing up on ebay a piece at a time :Furious:

There is no "bright side". The loss of another ascMcLaren actually makes your car LESS valuable. There are barely enough of them to garner any real collectible interest.

There is absolutely nothing positive about losing one of these cars to the crusher.

I just pulled the Craigslist listing up on Tue. 9:50 A.M. CST. So, evidently it hasn't been pulled yet?

Hope it can regain it's former glory. She's going to need lots of love.

And by love I mean $$.

I know most of you guys really love the orginal look, but honestly I will probaly keep most of the exterior the same, but will go more retro upgrades to it along the way. It would be way to much to try and do a complete resto for something that wont hold the value of what was put in, so I am going to make my perfect car from their design.

Hello dirtydog,
First, let me welcome you to ascMcLaren Enthusiasts!
I am glad that someone ended up with this unit who wants to keep it all in one piece.

Please, please, don't start hanging Mustang exterior parts on it.
Between several of the members on this site and members on FEP who own ASCs & Capris, you should be able to find all of the exterior parts that it needs, to keep it looking at least original on the outside.

Post some photos of your new play toy in your album as it is now, so we can all see it. Then keep us updated on your progress as you rebuild it. Above all, have fun with it!
Ron
