It's not an ascMcLaren. There was a version of the decor package available prior to the first coupes - an air dam and rear wing. But other than the never seen 25 1984's, Coupes didn't come out until 1985.

Doesn't give me any faith in Auto Appraisal Association.

Looks like it just has pieces of the asc Sport package. Looks like the air dam is not right.

I don't know if the 5 speed was available in 83. The car is about 45 minutes from me but for $17K it will never sell.

Edit: 5 speed was available 1980 for the Mustang.

I would love to do a documentary based on ads such as this one. I would start by interviewing the seller, who would gleefully tell me about the car, the $17,000 appraisal, the rarity, how quickly it will sell, blah blah blah.

As time passed, I would follow the ad on craigslist, watching the price drop, and mix in additional interviews with the seller, in which he is perplexed that people aren't lining up to buy his valuable vehicle.

I would also interview a couple of people from this site, who would dissect the errors in his listing and the futility of his asking price. The camera would also follow the tire-kickers who offer a couple grand to the seller, infuriating him.

By the end of the documentary, the seller is disenchanted, muttering about how people are idiots for "lowballing" him and refusing to meet his appraiser-approved price. He finally either puts the car back in his garage, vowing that it will continue to appreciate, or lets it go for $2500.

According to the Capri archives, the 5 speed became available in mid-december of 1982 for the 83s.
