power window problems, ANY advise would be appreciated
Please help me out guys
My passenger window just took a crap and stopped working, it is getting power from the switch but nothing happens when I hit it. My guess is the motor has gone up? Anyone done a replacement? Anyone have any hints or tips or tricks? Anyone give me anything useful that could help me out (it looks like a real chore from my handy "Chilton's Mercury Capri" handbook) but I am sure some of you wonderful people can give me something

This is ridiculous
Today my drivers side window crapped out too. Have not pulled the door panel yet but YIKES what the Heck is going on here. Please someone tell me that my car does not have Gremlins
I will be spending tommorrow in the garage tracing the problem but at this point I will take anything you got. Any advice is good advice at this point.

First check the 20 amp circuit breaker which is located next to the turn signal flasher. You can try swapping it with the other 20 amp circuit breaker for the power door locks. Next get to the motor and see if it runs. There is a gear box that has plastic cylinders to drive the window linkage. The cylinders are meant to crush as a safety feature. They can be crushed (old and brittle) and no output from the gear box. The switches are all the same and can be swapped.

I had a similar problem and sought the advice of the folks at the foureyedpride.com site. They provided a lot of it (you can do a search for the thread), but I have not yet gotten around to having mine fixed, so I cannot say for sure whether any of their ideas will work.

I just replace both driver and passanger side power motors. It is a very easy switch. Up toword the front of the door are three brass colored bolts, simply take those out and disconnect the power cable and push it out of place. Lift the window up manually and pull the motor out, reinstallation is the reverse but a little trickyer due to the tight space, still very simple however
