I just checked some auction results for our cars. Only that show car, 1 of a kind, sold for 10K. But, just for comparison I checked the Mustang GT verts from 84-86 at Barrett-Jackson. A single Mustang GT vert sold in 2014 for $6600.00, in 2015 for $11,000.00 and in 2016 the same car sold for $71,500.00!! WTH??? All the same vehicle.

I have an '86. On a Capri chassis. I checked the 84-86 Mustang GT's. Don't care about any other years or Mustang based ASC's. And the first one was sold in 2004. 12 years ago.

I plan on selling some of our vehicles shortly and wanted an idea of value. But it's hard to figure an overall value on cars that are so rare, even though they don't seem to be in great demand, and are still depreciating.

I was trying to research this earlier.. What were the 84-86 convertible made from? Mustangs with capri fender flares added?

No they were made from the Mercury Capri's. A Fox body but much different styling than the Mustang.

I have owned a few regular capri's... I thought the McLaren was made from a 2 door coupe mustang. So Mercury had a 2 door sedan that they never offered for sale but turned into Mclarens? It's just that I'm 48, and I never recall seeing a capri sedan on the streets of Detroit. Only hatch backs. That's what led to my recent curiosity of what car they were built off of.

They were made from the hatchback Capri's.

The '84 - '86's were made from the Capri hatchbacks with a whole lot of modification work. That's why, if you get rear ended, the result is most likely a total loss as far as the insurance company is concerned.

Don't know why but, since yesterday, I cannot access the Forum thru the website. Only thru a link sent to my email box.

Thanks a lot. I was wondering about that. That is quite a bit of modifications.
