stripe/side body kit installation

Ok, I sent the orange wheels back to hank (thanks again hank) for the correct one and ordered the black stripe kit. My question is, is there any guidelines for the stripes. I know I have the orange ones on there now but they need to come off so i can have the car wet sanded and buffed and i think a paint shop would be better to put the black ones on, i don't think i could get them on straight, the orange ones aren'e even on straight. maybe i should just take pictures. Also, does anyone have pictures of how the side body kit mounts on. I have a bag of fasteners for the side and front kits but don't know what goes where. Mike posted a diagram for front air dam installation, maybe once thats on the extra pieces will go on the side (i hope). I would like some pics of how the side body kit attaches though if anyone has any. Thanks for your help.

P.S. interior installation was stalled due to a broken sail panal. now i have to find a capri in the junkyard. There is a red one, going this weekend to see if it has what i need.

Stripe kit: I asked Hank about measurements for it and he said, its pretty much fool proof. You cannot put the pieces on wrong and looking at it I think he's mostly right.

If your stripes are nearly in the right spot, take pictures for reference. I had my body guy put them on and he got them near perfect. The only spots that were problems were on the lower corners where the bottom stripe wraps around at 90 degrees.

Which "side" body kit are you referring to? The side front air dam pieces bolt onto the front air dam. I think the diagram will help you there. The right and left rocker moulding just rivet (with big rivets) over the metal rocker panels. I can get you measurments for mounting but check the ones you have, I bet there are marks there or at least on the car's body from the old ones.

I can take some pictures tomorrow...remind me if I forget.

I was talking about the rocker panels on the side of the car. I went and looked and there are holes in the bottom of the car from the originals, should have thought of that. The stripes look pretty foolproof but never underestimate a fool, especialy here in shreveport. I will definatly take pictures before i take it in.

my side skirts were taped on with molding tape AND had 2 screws in each end holding it on

ok, i looked at my car and the side rocker panels and i cant figure out which sied bolts/screws/tapes to the car. There is a side that has a metal strip on in that looks like it would go against the car, however, it fits better, but it looks like it sticks out to far, the angle is weird. Anyone have any pictures of what they look like installed looking down the side of the car? Thanks for any help!

That metal strip....is it a small angle piece of straight metal and is it rivetted to the rocker cover?

If so, that is just to keep the cover straight as they warp over time. Its the other side that connects to the car.

thats what i thought. I was going to try installation this weekend but my wife told me on no uncertain terms to straighten up the garage

. Maybe next weekend. I'll let everyone know how hard/easy it is for those who might try to do it themselves.

ok, is this what the side rockers are suppose to look like? the angle looks like to much. the angle on the panel makes it go on like that, damn this is hard to explain and i cant get good pictures. Can someone take a pic of what they look like on their car from a similar angle, thanks.

Mike, have your skirts always had the rivets in them? Neither of my coupes had rivets in the tops of the skirts. That probably would have kept them from warping. Chuck
