How did Mclaren come to call Euro Coupe's, Euro Coupe's?

I heard the whole fox mustang was designed to give the car the same "european" look of the original, maybe asc just played off that?

So was the contour, and the focus. What is it with ford and making cars for americans that are designed the way other places like them. Just give me an American car, front engine, rear drive, lots of power and room.
