whoa! the '89 is ALOT more rare than i thought! i had always figured total TGP production to be somewhere around 7000.

if you don't mind me asking...where did you find this info? i mean....are those official ASC/McLaren numbers?

I, like you, was curious and I wrote to Pontiac in 1991 abd I asked. They sent me back a letter, which I placed inside my 1990 Pontiac brochure and kept. The Pontiac dealer near my house was also Cadillac, Buick and Oldsmobile. They got 2 1989 GP T.C.s and 3 in 1990, including one Burgundy SEDAN. The G.M. there, like me, had a "thing" for special models. Had they been a Ford dealer with him you can be sure they woulda had a dozen ascMcLarens! When Buick had their specials, this dealer had them all, from Gran National Regals to Gran National Centurys and T-Types all over the place ! 4.4.2. Olds when they were out.
I think it was 1996 that was Oldsmobile's 100th anniversary. To commoemorate they brought out a super duper model 98. It cost as much as a sedan de ville but overshadowed the de ville in every way. No dealers ordered it because the price was waaay outside the Olds buyer's arena. After 1996 I wrote to Olds to find out how many were made. Now, there were appox. 3,000 Olds dealers in America, right.... 28 ordered one of these ! Yup, 28 examples were made. Dealer by me? He ordered 2 TWO ! Otherwise I never would have known about them!

Ever hear of a Buick LeSabre Gran National ? Thought not! 117 were made. (Yup, he had one)

So...the Pontiac Turbo G.P. was a faily common car, for them !!

I have not heard of either of these cars, but they sound interesting. Do you have any photos of or links relating to them?

I think I know were one of the Buick lasabre Grand National is. If it is one, The body is good but the Fuel and brake lines rusted out from sitting around. Will look into it Tue

There was nothing on the 98. There was a single one page magazine advertisment on the LeSabre Gran National. I have it, but no scanner.

Funny thing is BOTH of these only came in either Black OR White.

Did that dealer also order a Grand National GNX ?

I had heard of the Grand National LeSabre's but have never seen one, I have seen several of the 2-door LeSabre T-Types before in black, silver & dark red, I always liked the look of those cars.

Will have to keep an eye out for one of those 28 Oldsmobiles though.

Euro # 13, YES ~ they had about 4 GN-X cars, and still "speaking Buick" he had 2 Century Gran Nationals, NOT to be confused with the lesser Century T-Types, which were there on & off also. In 1985 Pontiac released a LeMans based GTO Hardtop Coupe, only for the Canadian market. He went up, bought one at full sticker price, drove it back to Jersey and advertised all about it in the papers, and GAVE IT AWAY as a year long promtion. Car was NOT FOR SALE in the showroom for like 8 months, WITH window sticker proving it was indeed a GM made product. In October the drawing was held and some housewife won it. It was the only 1985 GTO in America.
He did crazy things. Recall theKoren imprted Pontiac Badge LeMans? Ah Ha....buy a Fleetwood Brougham and get a free Pontiac, the ads said!
400 ++ cars on the ground atall times. Looked like the parking lot at a New York Yankees game. Salesmen used to take customers out to the inventory in golf carts. At night, on slow nights in the suimmer, some of the salesmen would go out back of the building and have golf car drag races ! They had a test track in back where customers could drive the cars around. (Some are afraid to go on the public roads) ~ They drag race the golf carts back there.
Saturdays, they'd make a Bar-B-Que for everyone who worked there and give stuff to nice customers too. Use to make "Buffs" on the grill too.

i've never really been into other rare GM cars. for the most part i just don't like them. but then again i'm just wierd like that and very picky.

i used to own 1 of 268 '89 Lebaron GTS produced with the Intercooled 'Turbo-II' 5-speed (the other 638 '89 GTS Turbos produced had a non-intercooled 'Turbo-I' with an automatic). it was fully loaded with leather and ASC power moonroof. actually...i just traded my GTS straight across for this Turbo STE. i'm a HUGE old school Turbo Dodge nut! my brother owns three rare Turbo Dodges....an '86 GLH-Turbo (not sure on #s), '87 Shelby Lancer #127 (one of 780), and a '91 Spirit R/T (1 of 1208). all of them will whoop my cars bad!

i have never owned a Ford (yet), but i am very much NOT brand loyal. i always thought that if i were to get a Ford vehicle it would be a 1st GEN SHO or a maybe a Contour SVT (did i mention i'm wierd like that

). or maybe an SVO...i've always heard such great things about the Ford 2.3 Turbo. hell, even an XR4Ti would be cool to play around with. after seeing the ASC/McLaren Capri coupe (ecspecially the blue/orange ones!!)...wow...i would love to have one of them! maybe someday...RWD + V8 + killer looks + RARE!

Others know, but you are new here. I sold Dodges from 1968 thru 1996. I am very familiar with all models you mentioned. A small Ultra conservative dealership, we never had even 1 of any of those you mentioned. We sold ho hum boring cars. Omnis, pick-ups Diplomats, Aspen Sedans and the like. But I do have the brochures on the ones you mentioned.

my first car was an 88 lebaron turbo, not sure what trim level or anything, i do know it was fully loaded, it had the digital display and the infinity sound and everything. I inherited it when my grandpa died. good car, never had a problem with it, although it was my first car and i wasn't into cars at that point, might have had more fun with it knowing what i know now. Ahhh, the miss spent days of youth.

And It maybe for sale he was going to check. Mind you this is a MI car says its solid but has the common rust problems.

That's an interesting collection your brother has. Is he familiar with the Daytona IROC's? A friend of mine owns a 1993 model that's one of a total of 212 made that year, his is bright red (43 were red) with red leather (one of 8 in that combo), it's very sharp looking. I think it's currently got about 9,200 miles on it.

The Daytona/Laser were very cool cars, and the IROC version was a nice touch.
