This is a breakthru of sorts for 1984~1985~1986
Mercury Capri asc/McLaren Hatchback Coupe owners. (Note
none of this pertains to 1984/1985/1986 OR Ford
Mustang asc/McLaren owners, sorry). This is STRICTLY
PERTAINING TO 1984/1985 & 1986 HATCHBACK OWNERS, and not
included are EuroCoupe owners or Grand Prix IV owners. Got
it?

pay dirt! Not naming persons or
hows or wheres, but I obtained asc/McLaren/Ford Motor
Company documents approving what went into our cars! The
"dirty littel secret" is outta the bag! Herewith are the
actual alterations done to the MOTOR, either by Ford (F)
or by asc/McLaren (AM):-<br>A) Upgrade Exhaust
Header to Stainless Steel Internal Mandrel Bent
Incorporate Exhaust Port Liners Tuned With Lower Restriction
Exhaust.<br>B) Tuned Muffler To Reduce Back Pressure & Enhance
Exhaust Tone.<br>C) Replace Damper Units & Springs To
Achieve Better Cornering & A Softer Ride than The TRX
System.<br>D) Modify Camber Of Vehicle Front & Rear To Maximize
Performance Of Upgraded Tire/Wheel Combination. Requires New
Wheel Alignment.<br>E) Increase Suspension Bushing
Durometer.<br>F) Revise Power Steering To Give More Feedback
Sensitivity<br>G) Change Shift Linkage To Shorten Throw & Give A
Tighter Feel on 1984 & 1985 cars as well 5-Speed Manual
1986 cars.<br>H) Tires: Upgraded To P225x50:15" From
P225x60:15" Hi Performance To Maximize Handling & Ride
Quality & Enhance Lowered Effect Of Vehicle B.F. Goodrich
"Comp T/A"<br>I) Replace Valve Springs & Rocker Arms To
Increase Usable Rev. Limit to 7,000 R.P.M.<br><br>There
you all have it, finally! Now, the memo claims that
these alterations, additions and changes would amount
to a horsepower gain of 15 Percent, or 247 H.P. with
these alterations. (Of Course, With The Added Weight Of
the Heavier Spoiler On The Hatch, The Heavier Air Dam
Under The Front Bumper, The Additional Side Ground
Effect Skirting, The Rear Under Bumper Air Valance, the
Additional 1/4 Window Appliques and the Radar Detector and
the Front & Rear Light & Lamp Covers it is Neglegable
as to How Much Additional H.P. was Really Gained!
Perhaps a Split Between the "normal" 210 and the 247
Would Be Closer....Say Like 228 ???<br>AND THIS IS MY
