No, my friend is not lieing, I talked to the VR4
guy the next day (my friend's co-worker), he asked me
how my friend did that. On paper, there was no way.
Here, in CO, a mile high above sea level, forced
induction vehicles suffer badly if they are not tuned up
right. This guy had $2500 in mods was running 85 octane
gas, my friend was running 93 premium. The VR4 ECM
will not let the turbo's build any boost to the engine
because of detonation/preignition. I won't tell him that,
he can learn it on his own. As for the numbers, they
assume the car is in an optimal environment, as is
required in turbos and not normally aspiriated V8's
programmed for CO (yes, manufacturers do that for here at
the factory). I have talked to IRL, NHRA and SCCA
mechanics who have raced here. The IRL guys said the first
time they were here, it took several days to get the
cars to run, the SCCA guys agreed. The NHRA guys
literally have a specific motor to race in the "Mile High
City", just for the Mile High Nationals. All that VR4 is
without turbos is a fat overweight V6, a paper tiger,
nothing more.....
