Car is an '89. Made asc/McLaren Red with Duo-Tone
Light & Medium Titanium Grey interior & a black cambria
cloth roof. Was received on January 24th 1989 and was
shipped out on May 12th 1989. <br>To answer your initial
question, when it rode off the line at Dearborn, it was a
1989 Mustang "LX" 2-Door Notchback Sedan, in BLACK
with Titanium Grey cloth seats from a GT (adjustable
under thigh support and GT seat features such as power
lumbar.) These cloth seats were stripped of their cloth at
asc, and re-covered in the asc/McLaren leather,
supplied by Hollywood Trim of Troy, Michigan. The "LX" car
was Ford fitted with the 302 H.O. V-8 5.0L engine and
a Ford transmission. The center console was omitted
at Dearborn as were the following:-<br>Headliner/Rr.
Defroster/All interior window trim mouldings, with the
exception of the front window mldgs./rear seat belts/rear
seats/rear side (or quarter) panels/dome light & related
wiring/all floor carpet/<br>Added were: the complete GT
exhaust system (different than V8 LX), GT front fascia
with Fog lights. This resulted in a car with a GT
front & LX taillamps!!!<br>The car then rode out on 15"
tires and cop car wheels and no hub caps. The doorsI
hung on it were not from a normal 2-door coupe, but
rather CONVERTBLE doors or T-Top equipped car doors!
(Frameless). The side door windows were taped shut at the top
as there was a 2" gap between the top of the glass &
the roof line. Duct tape was employed. The blue oval
from the grill center was omitted, as was the one from
the deck lid. The cars did not get the LX std. pin
stripe, so they didn't go to see the pin stripe wizzard,
and the rear deck lid did not get a lock, as the hole
was utilized to house the center mount stop lamp
wiring therefore over the hole was more duct tape. The
rear package shelf was omitted, as was the normal rear
stop center light mounted ON that shelf. The
convertible Mustang's carpet (different cut) was rolled & put
in the trunk, and the hatchback/Coupe's rear view
mirror with built in lights was put on, since the thing
had no dome light! ~ Other changes too. Many! Power
window motors were from a BRONCO !!<br>And this was all
BEFORE it ever got to ASC !!! That's what makes our cars
SO SPECIAL!! Only 2 cars ever had not one, but two
INVOICES!<br>1. All Shelbys<br>2. All asc/McLarens<br>3. NEVER A
SALEEN !<br>4. I have my two invoices. The first one is
from FoMoCO to asc/McLaren & the 2nd is from
asc/McLaren to selling Dealer.
