I'd say the little black button is from some aftermarket alarm or
something else. I have never seen such.

Regarding the trunk carpet. It was installed using velcro strips
each strip abount 4 inches long, 1" wide. The velcro was not
installed at the edge (underside) but like 3" in from the edge all
the way around. The edges were like a flap, you could lift them up,
about 3" in from the binding. The difficult part is where it
attaches to the front panel, up high like just under the trunk lid,
closest to where the back seat used to be. I have never seen a
product like this. It's thin clear plastic strip, about 1/4 inch
wide with hook type fasteners shaped like this: j with the oppisite
on the carpet back ?J sorta like....
