BUT, But, but I do enjoy them!! Firstly, I enjoy owning them, much
as in the same way you might go & purchase a beautiful painting &
hang it on your wall, or buy that treasured stamp or coin for your
collection, only to promptly stick it in a book. Buy promos or model
cars, just to "have it" and them leave it in a box in a storage
closet, or buy the basball ball grove that a Super-Star wore, and put
it on your bedroom's display shelf. In the same way, I enjoy my 2
asc/McLarens. There will ALWAYS be a faster car, even if I dumped
$50,000.00 into it. I cannot own the fastest car.
Secondly, I do "show" them both at (very) local cars shows. I have
won 2 first place trophies and one second place trophy. My annual
show is the 2nd Sunday of June, unless it's Father's Day, and then
it's the 3rd Sunday.
It (as many of you know) is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to actually use a car
and also keep it showroom new, unless you live where it's very, very
rural !! I got on both of them, each one one sole time, just "to
see". The findings are that the 1990 2-Seat Roadster is heavier and
more combersome, but has a nasty sounding exhaust, all the way up to
70MPH. The 1986 Coupe, is much more nimble, lighter on it's "toes"
and more of a ballerina!! It's also (by the seat of the pants
feeling) the faster of the two. The Coupe gets faaaar more looks,
but that is due to its add ons rather than by design. To the "Car-
Dumb" eye (Joe Average on the street) the coupe grabs the eye with
its orange wheels & striping all over! To the more spohesticated
eye, the "Car-Guy" the unique design of the Roadster is very
demanding, and getting fuel is ALWAYS a major event with 100s of
questions! People will ALWAYS call the coupoe a Mustang, and not a
Mercury Capri. When the top is UP on the Roadster, many think it's a
Mercedes~Benz. The roof is identical, and the deck lid/taillamps are
so similiar. Top down, they usually know it's a Mustang....BUT WAIT,
something's different, and then they go hunting, looking & the
questions begin. The paint on the Roadsters always messmerize them,
too. There are ALWAYS paint questions & motor questions. In SUPER
HIGH THEFT New Jersey neither can be left alone for more than 5
minutes! (and) YOU"D BETTER WORRY ABOUT IT, for those 5 minutes!!!!
