Subject: Mag articles and the resurrection of #763

Body:

I wonder how much the magazines would pay me for my tale of 'resurrecting the
McLaren from hell'
and giving it a new life...

McLaren #763's restoration is progressing and it has now reached the stage
where it is road worthy
enough to drive from Boston to Los Angeles without fear of a breakdown: which
in itself is an
amazing feat for any FORD ;)

As you may recall from our previous conversation, poor old #763 is the car that
was bought in 88,
written off by an insurance company in 89 following an accident, and then
having the indignity of
being issued a Certificate of Destruction Title in each of the three states it
was dragged to by
its previous owner.

After reading about the $18.500 you spent on a MINT McLaren it got me to
thinking about the money
I am investing in this poor little orphan that no one cared for during its
tragic life....

- The entire interior ( console, seats, carpets, door panels ) were ripped out
- and replaced.
- The front end was ripped out - and replaced.
- The brake system was ripped out - and replaced
- The AOD transmission was ripped out - and replaced with a new one
- Driver and passenger doors were ripped out - and replaced ( also requiring a
door glass swap ).
- A set of 'unused' gold mesh rims (that sat in storage for the last twelve
years ) are arriving
shortly to replace the beaten up black mesh rims
- Ten million ants and fifty million pine needles have now all been
successfully evicted from
every nook and cranny in the car.
- A set of 'unused' gold mesh rims are arriving shortly to replace the beaten
up black mesh rims

Oh well, there is probably a slew of other things that have been done to this
poor little orphan
to help resurrect it back. But the one thing I will admit that even as it sits
at this moment it
is drawing a lot of attention and admiration from total strangers.

So I can fully see why $18.500 is money well spent on your latest purchase
Sandy ! Now if I could
only sell an article on 'resurrecting the McLaren from hell' and giving it a
new life...
