Hi Sandy,
The drawings are in AutoCAD R14 or Release 14, and one will have to have
that software to open them, period. I will try to get this bloody scanner I
have operating and scan them in and give that a try.
The probem is my scanner was operating under Win98, and when I upgraded my
system to XP Pro, the scanner was no longer recognized. However, I have
told XP to run the scanner in Win98, but have not as yet tried it to see if
it will run now. I have just been too busy, and I suppose I needed an
excuse. I design and build my own computers, but at times the software is a
pain. You see, I am from the old school, and I was a hardware man when the
software and hardware guys basically didn't talk to each other any more than
necessary.
I started working with digital equipment all the way back in 1965 when they
still had vcuum tubes for some operations. Yep, I'm telling on myself, my
first electronics school was in 1960 and there were damn few transistors
anywhere then, and the IC was a generation away. Sorry for the hassle with
the AutoCAD, but I will tackle the scanner this coming weekend, I have a
busy week ahead of me.
Thanks for the compliment. My '85 is still in the garage undergoing a
massive cosmetic re-do and serious bump-up of the 5.0 and everything else in
fact. But when I am finished, it will be impossible to tell it from
original from the outside. It was neglected by the 16 year old girl for
whom it was bought here in Fort Lauderdale for her birthday, and the
interior was ragged out. It had also been repainted with Enron, and allllll
that crap has to come off, so it is not a simple project. I am not
concerned about resale value as it will be passed to my son who is 34 at the
present time, but that is as far down the road as I can possible make it. I
will be taking it with me to Texas when we move in the spring most likely.
