Subject: On one window ragtops compared to McLaren three window rags

Body:
There are two clear advantages to the McLaren 'three window' rag top :

a) You enjoy far greater rear visibility and less 'blind areas' then that of
the single window
Mustang rag top....

b) It looks a lot cooooler then the single window on the Mustang and gives the
McLaren a
distinctive difference in look that helps to confuse 'Mustang spotters' who are
use to spotting
the single windowed rag top versions.

The disadvantage of course is a slightly higher cost, since our rags are not as
mass produced or
off the shelf as the Mustang rag top... and we have three windows to clean -
compared to the one
window of the normal Mustang.

Oh... here is a thought to share. The rag top that came with my McLaren had
absolutely damaged
and fogged rear windows. As the car is in the midst of its restoration I did
not want to rush a
new rag top on to the car until the body is painted.

So... while shopping at Poop Boys ( whoops Pep Boys ) I noticed that they sold
a 'cleaner polish'
for rag top windows. Hey, figuring I have absolutely nothing to lose I bought
a bottle. Permit
me to say the results were nothing short of astounding. I only wish I had
this magic genie in a
bottle back in the old days when I was driving TR4A's, TR250's and TR6's (
where we resorted to a
Zinc cleaner and polish to keep the windows from fogging ).

So if your plastic is looking a little foggy or scratched I can recommend the
polish sold at Pep
Boys for the task. It not only removed scratches, removed fog, but it left a
water repellant
shine on the windows. I was so excited by the initial results that I did the
inner and outer
windows twice to see how much more improvement I could get.

As I am writing this... it just struck me that I have one other spot on the
McLaren that might be
an interesting place to test this plastic polish on. My 'genuine McLaren' lens
covers ( over the
rear tail lights ) are both rather foggy due to age, neglect and exposure to
weather. I am ready
to bet dollars to donuts that if I slap that rag top window polish on those
tail lens covers I can
remove the fogging that has occured to them and remove quite a few of the
scratches at the same
time ( not that it matters since I have a brand new set of lens covers to go on
the car when the
paint job is completed ).

Oh well... my two cents and usual diatribe as usual
