Sandy,

It seems your post indicated there was no blue interior in 1984.  Maybe I misread it, but that is what I got.

'84 cars 1, 2 and 4 were sold at Mchugh Lincoln Mercury in Los Gatos, CA.  #1 was white with blue interior and blue wheels.  I believe it went to McHugh's daughter or a friends daughter.  It was an automatic.  #2 is the first five speed and was black and tan/beige.

Incidentally, nice fleet of cars you keep.  Thanks to you/Tom for the web presence.

Regards, Todd

Mustang LX 5.0L 2-Door Coupes ordered by ascMcLaren to become
ascMcLaren Roadsters were all ordered in the exterior color of Raven
Black.  The interiors were different (Scarlet, Sand Beige, Medium
Grey  and for 1990 only, Ebony Black.)  Cars that were ordered WITH
blue interior (either Regatta Blue for 1985-1989 - or 1990s with
Crystal Blue) came painted from Ford in Oxford White, except for the
1988s which were painted in Light Smoke (Pastel Grey).  This because
Ford's computers were set to reject the combinbation of a car in
black with a blue interior, which Ford deemed to be "Unacceptible
Color Match".  Therefore, in order to obtain cars with a blue
interior, these cars were made in Oxford White (87, 89 & 90) or
Pastel Smoke Grey (1988).  Cars that left FoMoCo in black, were left
black in the underhood department, meaning inner fenders, radiator
support & firewall.  Cars that were Oxford White (such as mine) were
extra work for them as they required these aforementioned items
underhood to be repainted black.  Therefore in many cases (no not
all) but the lion's share of cases, cars with blue interiors were
converted last, after all the others had been done.  This is true of
Dealer's Stock or inventory......NOT TRUE for customer orders!   If
you ordered a car with blue interior in November, naturally they
would not make you wait until the following June to make your car,
BUT dealer's stock inventory selected with blue interior came at the
end.  When the porter went out into the HUGE lot to get a car to
bring in to be converted, he knew to not look into any of the white
cars, IF he was looking for any other interior color.  They'd send
him out with a note onto which would be written 2 things:
The type of transmission & interior color the ascMcLaren customer
wanted. ~~ So it would say like:  5 Speed Grey.  Meaning he'd have to
look into all the black cars looking for a stick with grey interior.
First one he found, was the victim !
