Subject: The ? I can't answer
Body:
90% of the questions that come my way regarding our cars I can answer
right away, or go thru my papers & find the correct answer.
However, there is one question that is driving me crazy. I have
contacted ALL of my asc contacts, sent letters, called former asc
employees and everything. Nobody knows....NOBODY.
Here's the question:-
In 1990 the seat sew style was altered. Prior to 1990 the 1987, 1988
& 1989 seats featured diagonal stitching, on oppisite sides. As a
poor example, something like this ///// \\\\\. Yes, they were also
perforated. However, for 1990 they deleted the interior color
choices of Sand Beige, Medium Gray & Regatta Blue. They added Oxford
White, Ebony Black, Crystal Blue and Titanium Grey. They retained
the Scarlet.
Now, here's the weird part. For 1990 they changed the seat sew style
in the center of the back part as well as the cushion, (the parts
touched by your spine & rear end) by removing the diagonal stitching
and leaving them plain, retaining the perforated "dot" holes, but
removing the ////// \\\\\\ stitching. I was told that this was
phased in during 1989 "on a few cars" and that the reason was the
seats with the diagonal stitching were dedicated "lefts and rights"
and each panel was either a left or a right side, and by omitting the
diagonal stitching, any in stock panel could be used on either side.
Okay, that makes sence, but now here's the glitch>>
All of the interior colors for 1990 featured this new non-diagonal
stitchery EXCEPT the Crystal Blue. How Come?? THAT is the ?? I
can't answer! Now, before you say, they probably used up the blue
they had, THINK! The Scarlet was a "carry~over" color, YET it had
the new style. The Crystal Blue was a NEW color, yet IT had the old
style! Of course the other interior colors for 1990 were all new, so
they too had the new sew style.
As you (may) know, I have two 1990s, one with the hold-over Scarlet
interior with the new sew style, and one with the new color of
Crystal Blue with the old sew style. I am baffled. If anyone ever
finds out this question, please let me know. I am flat out of
persons to ask. Being 15 years later, there are very few people left
at American Sun Roof who even know what our car were/are !
"Why did the NEW color of Crystal blue for 1990 retain the OLD seat
sew style" when all others, even the carry-over Scarlet had the NEW
seat sew style" ~ ~
