Hi Guys...
I was knocked offline for two weeks by the folks at Yahoo. Remember those viruses that were floating around in the group mail and which carried other user's email addresses ?
Ok.. well there was a 'viral marketing' program out there, that when you download it off the Internet, it runs, installs, and then it takes all the email addresses in your email book and sends 'product endorsement' emails to everyone in your address book. In some cases it uses your email address as the sender - in other cases it uses some poor soul in your address book as the sender. Guess what... some one ran that program and my name was attached to the SPAM that it spewed forth. So Yahoo simply goes and deletes my account without any warning or chance to explain what appeared to have happened.
Anyhow chaps, after two weeks, ten emails and a FAX to their abuse department, the folks at Yahoo decided to re-activate my email address. But I mention this story so that everyone will be aware of how fragile an email account at Yahoo.com is - it can be turned out without notice and without recourse.
I hope that the new email address I posted for this group will kick in and start receiving email from the McLaren group. But I also trust you can appreciate what would happen if your primary email account got nuked without notice or forewarning. If you are doing business, handling your financial transactions, registering accounts etc all with one email address - they you too may find out how it feels when that account is suddenly pulled out from underneath you. I have learned from this experience and now I am running email accounts off my own web servers - just to maintain 100% control over the fate and destiny of those accounts.
Nuff said... just thought I would share why I was so silent over the past two weeks.
