Actually, taking this a step further, the ascMcLaren workers were not
fond of the white cars with blue interior (as is mine) ~ because on
all of the black cars they left the inner fenders, firewall and
radiator support bars/barckets black, no matter what color the car
was to be painted. (Black looks okay underhood, with any color).
BUT, the blue interior'd white cars required alot more labor time.
The entire engine bay had to be wrapped, and a special tool had to be
used to paint black the inner fenders, firewall and radiator supports
among other smaller even more time consuming items.
It was quite a production facility they had going on there. In order
to paint the exterior mirrors perfectly, even in back of the mirror,
Ford put boxed mirrors in the trunk, rather than install on the car,
and the actual mirror was omitted, so that ascMcLaren could paint the
inner side (hidden by the mirror) before attaching the mirror glass.
So much went into the cars, that is (was) so well hidden from owners
that few owners really know how much went into these cars.
