I had a 1986 5.0 years ago and was told that a cam would not really do much good because the computer was speed density and wasn't able to "compute" any major modifications.  I now have a 1988 mclaren which I have had to covert to mass air to do any modifications to the engine.  Ford converted the 5.0 HO motor to mass air in 1989.
