Subject: Re: [ASC McLaren ] Can't keep Brent waiting! CHASSIS TYME !

Body:
How much of this extended, or was part of, the Mustang conversions? Or is the Mustang conversions a whole different subject?

Anyhow: What body and engine changes were made on the McLaren Mustangs, vs. the stock cars?

Thanx,

Dr. dick Myrtle Beach, SC.

1985/1986 ascMcLaren COUPE Chassis Mods
As on the prior EXTERIOR, all Mods are ascMcLaren done, except where
noted, if any....

CHASSIS:-

*  Employ MCLAREN Specific Damper Units & Springs to achieve better
cornering & a softer ride than the TRX System from Ford.
*  Modify Caster/Camber of vehicle, both front & rear to maximize
performance of upgraded tire & wheel combination.  Re-Calibtrate
Wheel Alignment Settings.
*  Increase Suspension Bushing Durometer.
*  Revise Power Steering to give more feedback & sensitivity by
employing Thunderbird Turbo Coupe Tie Rod Tips.
*  Install Carrera 50/50 Hi-Po shocks & lower suspension 1.5 inches
together with Higher Rate Springs for a lower center of gravity.
*  Tires:  B.F. Goodrich Comp T/A High Performance Low Profile to
maximize the handling & ride quality and add visual impact.
P225/50x15 VR-Series.
Now....
Here comes the "grey" area....
Scheduled to be done, but killed off in the 11th hour (a few such
cars will built....) was the next Mod.  This was killed off as it
violated the SAE guidelines and wouild have required crash testing
which they were not prepaired to do:-

*  Revise Brake System by changing linings to Sintered Metallic
materials and  installing a Ford Motorsport Brake Proportioning Valve.

*  On 5-Speed cars change shift linkage to HURST to shorten throw &
give a tighter feel.
(I have no proof of this ever being done.  You guys might know better
than I, on THIS one!!).  I do not believe it was done.

*  Wheels:-
Imported from Capignolio from Italy 15" x 7" Cast Aluminum with
rolled rim in BBS-Style  (STYLE!!) waffle-Grid design, enamel-baked
on color with clearcoat glaze on Popsicle Orange and Oxford White
examples.  Imported into the USA by the MSW  Wheel Corp.  Also
offered in Anthracite and Oxfore White.
