Set WITHIN the charcoal bodyside, front & rear mouldigs I persoanlly
installed the matching Popsicle Orange tape stripe (pencil-thin) as
used on the 1986 EuroCoupes. It's tape, so it's very removeable.
Also in the rearmost point( > ) of the side rear 1/4 window(s) is a
miniture (1" high and 4" long) matching Popsicle Orange ascMcLaren
logo (same as on the rear hatch). This is also from the EuroCoupe of
1986. I applied this decal in the same location as on the
EuroCoupes. the license plate frames are factory original equipment
for a Lincoln (1986). They were originally a dull silver color, and
I had them primed and then sprayed in a custom mixed matching
Popsicle Orange lacquer paint. It's a commercial truck color. In
the picture the front driver side end cap appears not to match in
paint color. Actually it does, but Sandy forgot to rub off the wax
(I had just waxed her) before taking the picture. The car still
wears its OEM factory window sticker (can be seen in photo) and this
rear seat belts are wrapped in original plastic. The windshield
wipers are still wrapped in their original protective sleeves and the
floors have the plastic "WE WANTED TO KEEP IT CLEAN" floor mats. The
OEM ascMcLaren Floor Mats are wrapped in plastic from the factory and
are carpet side down in the hatch, to protect from sunlight. Mileage
is 566. 33 a year soly for servicing. She is new. Only part
replaced is the battery, which uses an OEM Motorcraft battery. Tires
and shocks are original. There is absolutely no rust on anything
underneath. All rust-prone parts have been hand rubbed with Vasoline
petrolleum Jelly (light coat) and tires get peaited every year with
rubber perservative. There are NO cracks in the rubber. Underhood
is spotless. The underhood pad shows a little wear from being closed
down on the engine, where the hoses have rubbed against it.
Sadly, like all of these cars, the rear hatch will NOT stay up in the
air, and I have changed the struts, employing Ford's Heavy Duty
units. However the added weight of the large spoiler is just too
much for the struts to handle.
