1992 5.0 Mustangs were still rated at 225 hp
The 205hp rating for '93 has been attributed to:
1) Different rating system, whereby engines were picked from
the actual assembly line for measurement. Previous testing
was supposedly done with blueprinted, or non-assembly line
engines.
AND/OR
2) Small changes made since the introduction of the 5.0 in 1987
that were never calculated for, but that did have an effect on
horsepower. Some of these were:
* addition of the air intake silencer
* addition of the MAF sensor (88+ CA or 89+ 50 state)
* small change in camshaft sometime in 1989
Also, in 1984 and 1985, automatic equipped 5.0's were equipped with
"Central Fuel Injection" (CFI). The 1984 engines (and rumored early 85's)
thus
equipped were rated at 165hp. Later '85 engines equipped with the CFI
system were rated at 185hp.
...still don't know a thing about these mystery ascMclarens in '84...
