Eric,

Only the owner, moderator, or person who posted the pictures could
delete your pics which in all cases should be you, unless you
selected anyone can delete your photos? There must be a way you can
change or disable that function. The only other way this could have
happened is if Yahoo kicks the oldest pictures off first to make
space as we were near our quota. If there does become another site I
say both this group and the new one reflects each ones existence.
