Possibly the best answer for the time being is to wait until such time as Yahoo does attempt to charge a fee for the use of their group forums or the use of their photo archives. At that particular time we will know exactly how much they plan to charge and make a collective decision at that time.
It is always good to be thinking ahead on matters such as this, but the path of least resistance, lowest cost and least inconvenience in the long run may prove to be simply paying the fee that Yahoo may choose to ask. I am pretty confident that whatever costing they come up with will be relatively minimal when spread over a number of users.
When I first raised the spectre of Yahoo possibly making a move to turn the photo archives into one of their revenue streams, my desire was just to give folks a bit of a forewarning of what I expect shall be happening in the coming months - given that the MSN network just turned their photo archives into a pay to use revenue generator and that Yahoo is also pushing every avenue and envelope they have to find new ways to replace the dwindling banner ad revenues that have cut into their bottom line financials.
So maybe we can let this topic rest until the 'event' happens and than we will probably have a thirty or sixty day notice from Yahoo in order to decide what actions to take in response.
