Well......I am glad that your curiouity has been satisfied. However,
as we know, these plaques were put on for the WOW effect in the
SHOWROOM. They are not reliable. ascMcLaren built the cars in
groups to lower their costs and the plaques were not necessarily
installed in the same order as the cars were built. asc themself
never kept a listing of car-by-car-by dash plaque #. In any & all
paperwork that was turned over to me, asc always refers to each car
by its VIN, never by dash plaque number. The plaque is a nice touch
but not a reliable source of production number. WOW effect.
They missed the boat, as they did not put on the plaque of how many,
as they DID do in 1984 !
It sould say "LIMITED EDITION # 58 OF 257". The 1984s were done
that way!! At least it would document the total # made per any
given year. They could have been sent to the owner after production
ceased.
