I am looking at the 89-93 Engine Compartment from the "Late Model Mustang Illustrated Parts Catalog (page 186) and it doesn't show any button but just shows the bulb with a module (#15702) and the wires that go down to the fire wall. This module appears to detach from the wiring harness and can be replaced.
I would use a voltmeter to see if there is any voltage going into the module first. It is always possible that the problem is not the switch. And I have my doubts as to how a mercury switch would wear out. I was under the impression that they generally are good for eons.
But if it is the module, just ask the dealership if they can get the part. They can search nationally for it. However, it may no longer be available and sometimes www.PartsVoice.com kicks back a parts house that has one.
I "guessed" at the complete part number "E9ZZ15702A" and typed it into www.partsvoice.com. One listing was returned:

This would be a new part but make sure the dealer confirms the part number I "guessed" at.
