I'm sorry try using this pic as a better reference to what I mean...

Try bending the switch (black arrow) in the directions of the red
arrows...tweak it til it goes on (if it does) then make sure it goes
off when the hood closes...hope THIS helps...make sure to copy the
whole link because yahoo wraps long URLs and it might get messed up...
