Darn, that sucks. Go to www.foureyedpride.com, there are alot more knowledgeable people there that can help.
All I know is you describe exactly the problem I had along with many other people.
If you swap in the old switch and the dash lights up again, maybe the new switch is bad. I suppose its possible.
