Sure they used off the shelf parts, but asc/Mclaren did choose these parts
specifically for use in the car. :)
I would call it "Sales Propaganda", it sounds impressive to the average
consumer who doesn't know better.
Remember Ricardo Montalban selling "Rich Corinthian Leather" to the masses
in the 70's & early 80's?
Bushing Durometer is a measurement of the density or stiffness of the item
in question. In this case the suspension bushings were replaced or
substituted with one with a higher rate. In other words they installed
stiffer bushings for less deflection in the suspension and better handling
performance.

It sounds that the reality is that McLaren had nothing to do with
this. Everything seemed to be off the shelf stuff:
T-Bird tie rod tips
Carrera Shocks
M-5300-C Motorsport Spring Kit
Increase Suspension Bushing Durometer
Also, weren't the springs specially designed by asc? So how could
they be in a Motorsport kit.
Just a bit confused. My ignorant statement of the day: What is a
Bushing Durometer anyhow?
