Sandy,
It could be a ton of things from the description you gave.
I order of likelyhood I would look into the following
1. The O2 sensors could have gone south 2. The TPS could be faulty 3. An injector could be clogged or malfunctioning. 4. The spark plugs, wires or cap could be tired.
Could be some other things but these come to mind quickly. Oh and does the car seem to have a miss now?

It's not an ascMcLaren, but it is a 5.0L. It's a RS - Automatic Transmission car with a pop-up manual sun roof. Car is the bright red with of course the grey interior. It's a part-time user "her fun car" ~ but she usually lives in her Chevy Blazer 4x4. Well, she called last night with a problem. I can't answer as I am no technician or very knowledgable on things mechanical. Rather suddenly, she says, her Capri began emmitting a strong smell of gas. Besically, it stinks, she says! Further, she says small traces of smoke are now coming out the dual exhausts. The car has 52,500 "pampered" miles. Her Blazer is a 1995, so most of the 52,500 miles was put on between 1987 (it was a left over) and 1995, or 8 years. Since she got the '95 Blazer, she only uses the Capri in the summer months. What things coud be causing this? She said it began 3 weeks ago, on a 8 miles run in the Capri, and then she used it once again last week, for 4 miles. Any thoughts? I told her I'd let her know by Monday..tomorrow...but with the holiday, I forgot to post it. Thanks, guys!
