Good point that the dash kit may be/likely is a replacement...I
wouldn't make the jump that the car has therefore been at the bottom
of a lake though. Maybe I am nieve, but this car doesn't appear to
me as though it has been immersed in water - at least for any amount
of time. Perhaps you have some info that I don't.
Like I said in my previous post, I have similar bumps showing through
my toneau cover, but no evidence of rust, etc. Why they are there, I
don't know. But I know my car hasn't been immersed in water.
Regarding the kickplates, the scratches seem to show that a lighter
beige is showing through the crud (again I have no idea where the
crud could have come from) and there appears to be some blue
overspray over the beige color on the right one.
I disagree w/ your statement regarding the signature plate. Perhaps
some cars had the black backing w/ orange stripe, but mine was
definitely exactly as shown in this picture and the picture of the
other "Sean's 85" in the "Files" section, which clearly shows no
backing/orange.
