The car was available to any & all Mercury dealers of record on
September 1st 1983. Ford or Lincoln dealers could NOT order it. No
longer true, but at that time there were a handful of Lincoln - Ford
Truck Dealers, without Ford *or* Mercury, and they could not have the
ascMcLaren.
Beginning in 1987 (when it was built on the Mustang) ascMcLaren &
Ford allowed BOTH Ford and Mercury dealers to order the car. One of
the biggest ascMcLaren (Mustang) dealers was Palm Beach Lincoln-
Mercury and Ft. Lauderdale Lincoln-Mercury in 1987/1988. There were
not many L-M dealers who had it after 1986, but there were a few.
The car(s) were never restricted to certain dealers. The dealer
letter & advertising and dealer information was sent to every Mercury
dealer in the USA in 1984-1986, and to all Ford Car (not Truck
exclusives) in 1987-1990.
I have a listing of the top dozen dealers over the 7 year run, if
