OK.....don't know if this is your problem or not....but I bought a
older Mustang years ago that had been in storage for a while....made
a whining racket.....sounded like the speedo cable......took insides
out and oiled.......no change......took it to an ole retired Ford
mechanic......told me it was the rear end......was a limited slip and
the noise was traveling the drive train.......he took the car to a
empty parking lot and done several "figure 8's" with the car and it
quit...... the left, then right turns done something......don't know
what, just that it worked! Never had any more whining problems with
it....
