One more thing to think about if anyone is keen on
replicating these ducts: Hydrolock!

Assuming they would be plumbed for a ram-air effect it
seems to me it would be all to easy for the engine to
swallow a gulp of water either from the puddles at
startup, or from hitting a big puddle.
