Re: [ASC McLaren ] Coupe Brakes

When I di  my 5 lug/Disk brake conversion on my old 89 LX, I used the 15 inch  Aluminum wheels  from the 94/95 v6 coupes with a light roll of the fenders  in the rear and was able to use the 16X7 and the 17X8 without and clearance problems using the "C" code springs from Ford. But I did use the T-Bird Turbo Coupe 8.8 with 3.55 gears and ran 205/45 ZR17 s in front and 225/40 ZR 17 s in the rear. The other BIG difference is that to get the same ofset in front as the rears the SVO cast tubular controll arms are needed and I left mine with the 92 GT Kmember and controll arms. they never rubbedand the car tracked beautifully. If I do the 5 lug /disc  swap on the 87, I will probabli use the SN 95 stuff as it is only 3/4 of a inch wider as opposed to the 1 3/8 wider SVO/Lincoln stuff. and for those who want the stock drums, go out and get you a couple of Ranger drums and the left axle from 2 trucks

The problem with the rear brake setup is that the axles are
1.25" longer (per side) than the stock Mustang axles, so wheels
with a custom offset will be required.  That, or live with the wheels
sticking out of the wheelwells.
