ASC McLaren MSRP Window Stickers

Post by 87ASCMcSteve »

Does anybody have a blank sticker I could buy to "create" one for my car to display at car shows? Mine is an '87, but probably a "universal" one was used for all years??

NEW MSRP Window Stickers

Post by 87ASCMcSteve »

No one replied to my earlier post asking about blank window stickers, so I decided to e-mail Hank H. to see if he had any. He has new ones, blank, for $20.00, so I ordered one. Can someone please take an up-close picture of your sticker (ideally an '87) and post it so I can get an idea of the format? I am making one up to display on my '87 at car shows. Thanks in advance.

Did you have any luck with this? I would love to do the same for my cars. Thanks.

I do not have the exact format, as requested. Whatg I do have are the listing of options. Now, please, understand this.....

When the mules arrived at ascMcLaren they were wearing FoMoCo applied window stickers showing the options installed AT Ford. These door windows (left & right) were then removed & trashed, with their stickers still on them.

ascMcLaren then installed their OWN window stickers ! Their stickers showed the options that Ford installed, by listing those under STANDARD EQUIPMENT. Okay....they were Standard FOR the ascMcLaren build, but....they were not standard. The cost was built into the unit cost of each car that ascMcLaren purchased, and ultimately was again passed on to the original new car buyer.

For 1987 the Ford Installed Options were:
Manual Air Conditioning
Am Fm Stereo with Cassette
Automatic Transmission
Power Windows
Power Door Locks, Remote Trunk Lid Release & Locking Fuel Door Release

Tilt Wheel
Premium Sound
Tinted Glass (Fleet) Windshield

But...it's not all that simple. Refer to here:-

Nick and Sandy,
Hank is still trying to find for me an actual window sticker for an '87 or newer to make a Xerox copy of and mail to me to give me the format to "create" my own window sticker. I did order and receive from Hank a blank McLaren sticker and it does list as std. equipment, the Ford options before it became a McLaren. What I'd like to know is what the estimated gas mileages were for the McLaren (city and highway) and the estimated annual fuel costs to "plug" into the sticker info. If I get a copy of an actual sticker from Hank, I'll let you know, Nick.

The fuel figures would be the same as a same year LX V-8 2-Dr. Sedan.

I would like to see us try to get one blank template made up for each year the ASC McLarens were made (1984-1990) and download a copy of the blanks along with samples to a sticky folder in this newsgroup. Talk about making progress. Anyone else agree?

Note. some variations between window stickers would be based on automatics and 5 speed manuals. Not only the fuel figures are different but the horsepower ratings and rear gear ratios would vary too. From memory 225hp for 5spds and 220hp for automatics. I only know the gear specs for the '87-90 Mustang's being 3.08 gears for the manual and 3.27 gears for the automatic. Sandy what were the gears on the Capri's? Also Sandy would black cars be repainted or have a few layers of clear coat added which may change the window stickers somehow? Or would it stay the way Ford sent the vehicles to ASC for a difference in costs and notations on the window stickers?

The gears for the Capri(s) were identical.

Black cars had to be repainted as they too had their roofs lasered off, and this caused some burn marks, scratches and other imperfections. Sikkens # 242 Black was employed.

I agree. If we had a template I would order a couple of blanks from Hank for my '89.
