Wood dash
I just had to take my dash out today and found that the wood panel is not an appliqué as I tought. It is real veneer with laminated surface and all my panels match. Is this normal? Or should it be just an appliqué.

My Feb (Ford date) production car had owner installed screws in the wood vineer and the wood was painted black. Since the screws were too long and went into the cluster lens, I assumed they were not original along with the black paint. There were no screws on the passenger side. Looks like double sided tape was used originally.
The interior saw a fair amount of sun fade so I guess the wood looked crappy and was painted by the last owner. Console trim cleaned up nicely and I refinished it with polyurthane. Now I need to get the panels reflocked before installing the new wood without screws. The flocking turns to a goo and is not easy to get off. Someone suggested using the fake wood grain panels and flocking them.
