OEM Top

Post by 03Mach1 »

Sandy, does this look like an OEM top? I got it off of hank's site.

I can't say for certain. It's hard to tell when NOT installed on the car.....BUT, it certainly looks closer that anything else I have looked at, on here in the last 50 hours.

look at how tall the side windows are. This is the exact top that I have. Which has consistent wear for the age and mileage. If you notice the stitching, goes straight across to just about where the window cutouts are. I've seen them going diagonal from the top to the bottom near the cutouts which would not be OEM. I have seen the ones you are talking about though. The smaller side windows... only on the 90 versions? Perhaps ASC changed manufacturers during its production run?

this is a pick from the asc plant of a new one ready to ship. Look at how big those side windows are.

When you looked at your "ultralite" stamp in the plastic, did it have a year stamped on it?

Can't recall - will look at it on Tuesday

I will also take measurments, as to width at bottom, at mid way up and at the top. as well as bottom middle to top point.

This depends upon how sick or not sick, I am after Monday's infusion at the hospital. It USUALLY takes 36 hours to hit with gale-force, BUT not always! Sometimes it hits in just 10 hours. I do not know why this is.

The car is home, so I do not have to schlep over to "Car~Condo".
(This would be "Azure-Blew" who is here.) Hi-Ho Scarlet is over at "Car-Condo" along with "Aubergine". Also 5 other Condo Renters.
The place filled up, with Autumn right around the corner. C.C. holds 9 cars.

I believe that the top were not all the same over the years. I replaced my top on my 86 capri with one that came from Hank and it was not the same as my original top. I think what he has are probably the last type wich is different from the capris. JMO.
