From Peter Muscat this evening. Well the good news is that there is going to be a new McLaren, as in a one button retractible hard top (fiberglas?) with a 27 second retract & close. I do believe a fastback design based on the convertible, not a doner Coupe. I am going to local large dealers and hopfilly leaving behind some pic and specs and trying to get dealers to sign on for a couple of cars. I may be luckey enough to talk Peter into shipping me for my use in displaying the real deal to them....more to come...I guess -I hope.

sORRY!! i LEFT OFF THE 7 AS IN 27 SECONDS, I SAW A PICTURE. IT DOESN'T LOOK LIKE ANYTHING ELSE. WHEREAS OURS, FROM THE REAR LOOKS LIKE A MERCEDES BENZ CONVERT. MANY SMALLER DETAILS TO BE WORKED OUT, I.E. PAINT COLORS, SHIPPING, ETC. THE CAR, THAT PART IS DONE. 2 RUNNING SPEICEMNS ARE RUNNING LOOSE. HE IS WORKING UP A PAKG. FOR ME TO PRESENT TO A COUPLE DEALERS IN MY AEREA. SO MANY DEALERS HAEVE CLOSED UP, THAT REALLY ARE NOT MANY TO CALL UPON. MY LINCOLB-MERCURY DEALER LOST MERCURY & TOOK OVER THE NEARBY FORD DEALER, SO, THERE IS 1 LESS EVEN NEAR ME.
THE TOUGH PART, AS I SEE IT, IS THAT THE CARS (cannot be floor planned)
BECAUSE PETER HAS TO PURCHASE THEM FOR CASH AND THEN NEEDS TO SELL THEM TO THE DEALER (I DO BELIEVE) TO THE DEALER, SO I AM NOT YET SURE HOW THAT WORKS. IF HE DOES A 3RD CAR, I'D LIKE TO GET IT TO PRESENT TO DEALERS - MUCH BETTER THAN A 1 PAGE BROCHURE TO GAZE AT.


AFTER 28 YEARS IN THE CAR BUSINESS, I LEARNED THAT DEALERS ARE AS TOUGH TO SELL AS ARE TH E BUYING PUBLIC!!!!!
SO, I WILL KEEP YOU ALL INFORMED AS TO WHERE THIS GOES....
ON TGHE SITE WHERE YOU ALL HAVE SEEN THE WORKING CAR, 1 SILVER 1 BLACK THE TIME OF RAISING AND LOWERING TOP HAS BEEN CUT DOWN 5 SECONDS. THAT IS ALL THAT COULD BE ACHIEVED. MANY COMMENTS WERE THAT IT TOOK TOO LONG, FROM THOSE WHO WISH TO DUE THE OPERATION AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. 27 SEC IS 'it' !!

I was at SEMA a couple of weeks ago and thought I spotted what might be one of his cars on display. I did not get to take a close look at it until the show was pretty much over. The color was orange metalic so maybe it was not one of his. It was on display at the Galpin Ford tent. There were no markings, labels or tags on it. Nothing in the door jam either. I am positive it was a retractable hard top.

If this pans out to be a real deal and dealers get into it.....

Sandy think on this if the car is on a mso and not a titled "used car" it needs to be shipped thru his facility and converted. He should recall how to get that set up with Ford. I believe the chassis can be floor planned as long as he is set up that way with Ford so dealer would be much more inticed much like conversion vans, truck body conversions like wreckers, box trucks and such. The hard add should also be able to get carried thru Ford Credit you want it sold as a new car to quality for new car rates and incentives. I sold many new Fords in my day with many aftermarket adds there is a list of hard adds that they will advance for. Talk to finance director at dealership and he/she should give you some insite on that. I can add more on this when i have a fuzz more time to really think about it.
